Indiana American Water cares deeply about our customers and the communities we serve across Indiana. We’re proud to help protect the environment and support the efforts of local organizations that share our vision.
We do this through our environmental grant program, our community involvement initiatives and volunteering to support local projects or organizations. Keep reading to learn more about our commitment to community involvement in communities across the state.
Community Involvement
Indiana American Water’s employees live in communities all across Indiana and are proud to partner with local organizations and businesses to help make our towns and cities more vibrant and healthy places to live, work and play.
We help address community-specific needs by volunteering our time and developing partnerships, as well as through community giving and in-kind donations.
We understand making a real impact in communities involves more than just a one-time grant or volunteer effort. That’s why we seek out organizations with a deep understanding of how to best serve the long-term needs of the communities they live and work in, whether it’s supporting nonprofit organizations or local schools.
In 2021, Indiana American Water invested nearly $300,000 in communities we serve through general charitable contributions, grants, sponsorships and programming support to organizations statewide. Our donations help many types of organizations and community initiatives, including:
- Economic development
- Firefighting support grants & sponsorships
- Environmental grants & sponsorships
- Youth & education
- Food bank & hunger relief
- Other charitable contributions and community partnerships
None of this can be accomplished without the great partners we’ve established relationships with over the years as well as the support of our employees, who are engaged in their communities and committed to making them a better place to live. In 2021, Indiana American Water employees volunteered 1,065 hours in the communities we serve.

Environmental Grant Program
Indiana American Water established its Environmental Grant Program in 2005 to support organizations in the communities we work in that share our vision.
Our annual Environmental Grant Program offers funding for innovative, community-based environmental projects that improve, restore or protect the watersheds, surface water and groundwater supplies in our local communities.
